The position of an art gallery is defined over a period of years by its judgements and the artists it works with. Along the way punctual assessments are made – of this artist or that exhibition – but the long haul is more important: the way in which a gallery evolves, the issues it addresses and how it looks at the culture of its time and the things it gives importance to.

The 90 exhibition catalogues published over 25 years by Art Space Gallery is a record of our long haul. Leon Kossoff, Jeffery Camp, George Rowlett, and Michael Sandle are among the artists; David Hare, Colm Tóibin, John Berger and William Feaver are included in a list of critics, writers, poets, historians, curators and other artists who have written essays.
